The Deets! (below the cut)

Time: Sunday, August 31st, 6pm.
Place: Triumph Brewing Company, 2nd and Chestnut, Old City Philadelphia

The IndyHall 1 year birthday party bash is coming together quickly. This event is NOT to be missed. We’re celebrating EVERYONE’s hard work, love and support of this community for the last year. And for those of you who know how much we love to celebrate, you can only imagine how big this throwdown can be.

Remember the BlogPhiladelphia party that was at Triumh? Bigger than that.
Remember the PodCamp Philly party that was at Triumph? Bigger than that.
Remember IgnitePhilly at Johnny Brenda’s? BIGGER than that.

Remember the RipIt/iSepta party at National Mechanics? That’s right. Even bigger than THAT.

We’ve got the entire upstairs of Triumph reserved, and there’s no rules against spilling over into the downstairs. In fact, I hope we do. We’ve got pre-recorded and live entertainment. We’ve got special guests.

But what’s really important? The food and drinks.

That’s where we need your help.

Much like the RipIt/iSepta launch party, we’re turning to you for help again. For the launch party, the Philadelphia community stepped up and contributed over $4000 in less than a week, and that gave us a good start on the night. This time, we’ve got 3 weeks, and as such, we’re setting lofty goals.

Here are our targets and their accompanying rewards:

<$10,000 – a bar tab, available until it’s gone
$10,000 – open bar, cash food
$15,000 – even longer open bar AND free food

Sponsors!

Every little bit helps, so we’re revisiting the old sponsorship packages!

$25+ Entry into drawing for a free 1 year basic membership (valued $300) Giftable!

$100+ Logo on an event t-shirt from ChoiceShirts, and name announced at the party

$500+ 12″ wide (that’s a decent size) Logo on our Larger Than Life Prints Sponsor Sticker Wall, and name announced at the party

$1000+ 24″ wide (THATS HUGE) Logo on our Sponsor Sticker wall & on an event t-shirt, and name announced at the party

$1500+ 36″ wide (OMG THATS FREAKING HUGE) Logo on our Sponsor Sticker wall & on an event t-shirt, and name announced at the party

And the UBER SPONSOR opportunity:

You know how sometimes you want to set the goal that you think someone MIGHT come along and hit, but the odds are low? And you want to put a completely ridiculous reward on that goal, to match the level of ridiculousness that the goal itself has? Well do we have a treat for you!

The first single source to donate $10,000 USD and have it be confirmed in our bank account will not only receive all of the rewards above, along with an immense amount of cred with our global community, along with the satisfaction of knowing that you got to participate in our historical event. BUT YOU GET MORE!

You get Geoff DiMasi shaving his head, on camera with a personalized message to you. AND Alex will get the IndyHall logo tattooed on his body. An untouched photograph proving its placement will be provided for confirmation.

WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR!!!!!!????!!!!

How to be a sponsor!

How do you play along? This time around, we’re playing with ChipIn. It’s pretty easy, and lets you specify any amount of contribution. We’d prefer the minimum be $25, if for no other reason, Paypal DOES take a cut of our goodies, and with our goals, we should be making their customer of the month list!

So go ahead and chip in! Feel free to take our chipin widget and share it on your blogs, pages, facebook, etc as well. Remember, EVERY little bit helps! We won’t make a dime from this event, we just want it to be as off the hook as it can possibly be. This is a night meant to be remembered. We want you to be a part of that!

Want to contribute another way? Email us!

PLEASE RSVP

Upcoming.org. You know what to do.

The biggest thank you ever.

In all seriousness, thank you to everyone who’s been along for this ride over the last year. And thank you immensely to everyone who continues to pour themselves into this operation. I can’t imagine life without it.

This return of our workshop series from the spring is very exciting, and will be the first of lots of new events we’re getting fired up for this fall.

The event will run from 6:30-9pm. Please RSVP on Upcoming so we can have a headcount!

From Dan:
This tutorial is meant to introduce users who are already familiar with Adobe applications to After Effects, although I am sure that there will be elements that would be valuable to anyone interested in the program. I will be showing how to animate a logo over a background using 3D space, cameras, keyframing, with pixel and vector graphics. I know it sounds like a mouthful, but I’ll be breaking it down and doing my best to answer any questions you might have. If it sounds over complicated, don’t panic. I am a nerd at heart, and it is in our nature to make things seem more complicated than they actually are.

This “Logo” type of demonstration is a common introduction into After Effects because it incorporates so many of the programs abilities. If this session is received well, I will build more tutorials based on the specific needs and wants of the Indy Hall community. I look forward to seeing you there.

If anyone would like to get a familiarity with the program before the tutorial, or would like to work along with me, I will be supplying my files to anyone interested. You can also download a demo version of the program from the Adobe site.

It’s an event where you admit to your mistakes in business and in life with the hopes that others can learn from them. Co-organizer Amy Hoy has a much better description in her recent post to the Failcamp google group. Movie Nights will be finally starting in August. The concensus has been that they will take place on a thursday and since those are already booked up this month, we need to move it along to August. We’re kicking things off with one of your favorite cheesy 80′s movies, and for the next run, we’ll be embracing a new opportunity to work with Independent Exposure, a Houston based touring independent film circuit.

So stay tuned, and while you do, vote on the next movie:
